Strong demand for small units in Calne
Early in 2020, Calne-based business Total Connections took the opportunity to consolidate their business from five small units at Porte Marsh Workshops in Calne, into one larger one on Clark Avenue on the Porte Marsh Estate.
Wiltshire Council, as owner of Porte Marsh Workshops, then instructed Chippenham-based Huw Thomas Commercial to find new occupiers for those units, together with another small unit that had become available.
Despite the onset of COVID and the first Lockdown, there was strong demand for the small units which range in size from approximately 650 sq.ft to 950 sq.ft. Terms were very quickly agreed with specialist motor trade business Rotary Motion Ltd to take Units 8 and 9 on a new lease. That letting was quickly followed by a private individual taking Unit 10 for private storage.
Another existing business on the Porte Marsh Estate, SVO, who specialise in adapting vehicles for disabled persons, needed to expand their operation and took a lease on Unit 1.
An existing tenant on the site, LPB Fitness, then took the opportunity to expand their business by relocating to Unit 4, a larger unit giving space to provide both a wider range of equipment and ensuring greater distancing within their gym.
Unit 2 has now also recently been let to personal trainer Harvey Barrow, who is currently fitting out his unit ready to take clients post Lockdown.
Huw Thomas who dealt with all the lettings comments: “With so much depressing news around over the last few months, it’s very encouraging that four of the units on this site have been let to expanding businesses. We still have Units 3 and 5 available, but already have interest in both, so hopefully further lettings can be completed in the near future.”
